A specialized growing medium is of most importance to our team at Shooting Roots. Our aroid mix does not contain soil, as soil sometimes consist of pathogens such as fungus or other diseases.
Our premium blend aroid mix makes it much safer for our plants to grow in!
So what does our mix consists of?:
- Cococoir, is PH neutral, and a natural waste product, which has minimal impact on the environment. It is pleasant to handle and odorless. It also allows plants to access nutrients during the feeding and watering process.
- Coco husk chips, helps regulate the aeration and maintain the ideal air to moisture ratio for the plant roots.
- Perlite, improve aeration and drainage, and speeds up rootforming. It prevents compaction and does not decompose. It is free of disease, weeds and insects, and insulates & minimises temperature fluctuations.
- Wormcastings, increase the mix’s water retention
- Biochar, helps with reducing acidity in the growing medium and rid the soil of impurities, repels insects, and prevents mold and odors.
- Mycorrhizal fungi help the plant to draw more nutrients and water from the growing medium. They also increase plant tolerance to different environmental stresses. Moreover, these fungi play a major role in soil aggregation process and stimulate microbial activity.
